KUBEK, Gregory Charles - Of Buffalo, entered into rest on April 3, 3024. Beloved fianc of Danielle Brown; loving son of Gregory J. and Charlene M. (nee Dillon) Kubek; dear brother of Michael (Mary Ellen) Bochicchio, Anthony (Shelley) Bochicchio, and Jennifer (Gary) Kubek; also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd., Amherst (near Eggert Rd.) on Friday, April 12th from 2:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mad Rescue of WNY. Greg was born on August 9, 1981 and spent his first few years in Riverside. He spent the majority of his life in a tightknit Cheektowaga neighborhood where he forged lifelong friendships. He graduated from Cleveland Hill High School in 1999. After high school, he tried his hand at many different jobs, including but not limited to tile setting, selling automotive parts, and metal working. He eventually started two successful businesses. Greg was a lover of family, friends, animals, and music. He is known for his extensively curated playlists and his tendency to go to a party and only hang out with the dogs. He loved to go to concerts and golf with his father, visit his mother in the afternoon, watch his niece and nephews grow up, feed the birds, and take care of everyone. He could be found, most nights, regardless of weather sitting by a bonfire listening to music with his dogs, Freyja and Gunnar at his side. Greg spared no expense when it came to the people he loved. Whether someone needed help financially or just an ear, he was the guy for the job. He showed up when no one else did. Unless you needed help moving something. In that case, he would kindly (or not so kindly) suggest there were other people to do that. He was passionate about his bowling league of 24 years. He rarely missed a Tuesday night. He would start preparing the music he wanted to play over the weekend, then would precap the night extensively on Wednesday. He would go on about how many beers Matty K drank, who missed the night and why, if there were pickled eggs available, his scores, and whether there was a helmet chant or not. Another passion was music. He loved all music, but had a special place in his heart for the band Genesis, but not the new stuff. He was known to play a fifteen minute song and cry the entire way through. Greg and his fianc met at nine years old in front of the Shanahans house. Over the next 30 years, their path would cross many different times. Until, finally, in 2018 they started a relationship. Over the next six years they travelled often, spent time with friends and family, spent hundreds of evenings in the backyard next to a bonfire, bought a house, and adopted two dogs. Greg was everyones best friend and he loved almost everyone he met. His knack for developing relationships was unmatched. His fianc always knew she was never the number one woman in his life, and she was ok with that. She fell fourth in line after Freyja, his beloved dog, Sophie, his niece, and his mother. He reserved the purest love for his dogs. He was preceded in death by Samantha, Max, and Takeo, all of whom he loved dearly. Years after their passing, he would cry at pictures and stories of them. Greg was an avid story teller and would regale everyone who would listen with stories of his fondest memories. Some of his most repeated stories were about the time he fell out of the car when his dad was driving and when Tony would pick him up and they would drive around. He talked about camping at Lost Nations with the men in his family, and setting up candles in the distance, so they could watch the twinkling from where they sat at the bonfire. He loved going to summer camp and sharing a birthday with his cousin, Karl. One of his favorite stories was about a time he went kayaking with Joe during a flood. He tipped his kayak over in the rushing waters and had to find his way into someones backyard. He then ran down the street soaking wet until a cop picked him up and took him back to the car. He constantly reminisced about parties at Tommy Lindners, Tommys dog, Rocky, and helping put a roof on their house. Putting a roof on a house was out of character for Greg because he was terrified of heights, so this fact was double checked with Tommys wife Jonelle. She confirmed Greg did in fact help with the roof.by bossing everyone around from the ground. He spent many hours at the Shanahans eating the bulk candy Chris mom, or mama to Greg, brought home from work. He also spent many hours cleaning the Shanahans house, apparently while Jim sat on the couch watching, because they couldnt play until it was all clean. Our world has lost their best friend, the person who would tell it like it is while hugging you, the one who would always start the fire and turn the music up, and the best protector there could be. He will never be replaced or forgotten. His best friend, Joe, summed it up perfectly when he said, He was a stubborn bastard, but he was my stubborn bastard. He was all of ours stubborn bastard and the world will never be the same without him.
