Agnes Lindelow

June 5, 1928 — January 12, 2025

Agnes Lindelow (nee Monkelbaan), 96, of Amherst, passed peacefully surrounded with love on January 12, 2025. Born June 5, 1928, the youngest of 10 siblings, she was no stranger to hard work, living on a farm. She carried that work ethic through life, from working at home and selling peonies at The Broadway Market with her mom to finishing houses to teaching her passion for Nursing. Working as an LPN for over 2 decades, she treated her patients with tremendous care and compassion. She was incredibly proud of her time spent caring for others, which extended well past the doors at Millard Fillmore Suburban to all areas of her life. Her nursing career enabled her to buy a home, a refuge for all, and her favorite place to be. A faithful Catholic woman, she spent her life embodying the messages she took from The Bible. She lived without judgment of others, with empathy, kindness, acceptance, and most of all, a loving heart. She offered assistance without question or expectation. She donated her resources to causes she felt important, of which there were many. She was a regular fixture at St. Christopher's Parish, where she was well-known for her devotion and generous nature. Fiercely independent, there was nothing she couldn't do. No stranger to home improvement projects, she had a hand in many homes around the area, and most importantly, those of her loved ones. A gifted hand at wallpaper and a pro at cutting edges with a paintbrush, she was always happy to lend a hand. She loved flowers, spending time in her garden, looking out at the water, walking with her friends, and reading the newspaper. She enjoyed a variety of hobbies including quilting, Danish needle painting, photography, pinochle, and beating Joe at Scrabble. She loved getting mail and treasured every card she received. Her proudest achievement lies with her family. She was a treasured Mum to James (Sharon) Lindelow, Ruth Earl (Eugene), Jean (late Mark) Kuttruff, Joseph Lindelow and Anne (Bruce) Pepi; Honorary Mom to David (Sue) Monkelbaan; Beloved Grandma to Stephanie (Robi), Rebecca, Jessica, Katie (Matt), Elizabeth, and William (Leidy); Dear Grammy to Rob (Corrinne) and Jeremy (Erin); Cherished 'Ramma' to Sarah (Scott); Loved Great-Grandma to Norah and Evan; Precious Great-Grammy to Alex, Madeline, Ben and Caleb; Adored Grandma-Grandma to Henry and William Walter. She was often heard remarking how lucky she was to have such wonderful children, who all took care of her so well. How blessed she was to have so many grandkids and great-grandkids who loved her. How she treasured all her nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A firm believer in heaven, she longed to be reunited with her Mom. She is giggling with her dear sisters-in-law, Rita and Edith. Having card club with her lifelong friends, especially Katy. She missed her siblings, Gertrude (late George) Thuman, Teresa (late Bronco) Harding, Herman (late Dorothy) Monkelbaan, Mary (late Wallace) Moje, Benjamin (late Lillian, late Grace) Monkelbaan, Jacob 'Jack' (late Marie) Monkelbaan, Joseph (late Elvira) Monkelbaan, Charles (late Edith) Monkelbaan and Raymond (late Rita) Monkelbaan, and the family and friends that went before her. They are all together now in the best place. A friend to everyone she met, she will be missed by many.
