Smith, Albert E., 94, of Tonawanda, entered into rest on April 25, 2024. Beloved husband of 67 years to Dorothy A. (nee Karl) Smith; devoted father of Kenneth Smith, Wendy (G. Glen) Gish, Sandra (Richard) Reyes-Guerra, Douglas (Coleen) Smith and Gail (Kurt) Bower; cherished grandfather of G. Garett and Matthew (Rachel) Gish, Deanna and Grant Reyes-Guerra, Noah, Elizabeth and Emma Smith and Kiersten Bower; loving son of the late Albert D. and Rose (nee Wachenheim) Smith; dear brother of Harold (Sharon) Smith, Norma Gerland, Richard (Shirley) Smith and the late June Mistretta, Robert Smith, Sr. Dorothy Smith and Carol Kaufman; also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Al retired from Amherst Central Schools after a 30-year career. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed camping at Alleghany, sailing in his youth and singing in the choir. Al also volunteered at several churches including Society of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Mary of the Angels Church, where he took care of the landscaping and the pool. He was well-known in the neighborhood and enjoyed spending time with his family, neighbors and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd (near Eggert/ Sheridan Dr.) on Monday, April 29 from 3-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Christopher R.C. Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda on Tuesday morning at 9:30 oclock (please assemble at church).
