Alexander Horvath, 80, of Boston, New York passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Alex was born on August 15, 1938, in Budapest, Hungary, to Alexander and Gabriella Sooky Horvath. Together with his mother and sister, Alex immigrated to the United States in 1951. On July 13, 1963, Alex married Kathleen E. Nowak in Lackawanna, NY. Alex served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965, after which they settled in Boston, NY to raise their family. Alex was employed at Bethlehem Steel as a steelworker for more than 40 years. His pleasures were fishing, hunting and, especially, spending time with his family. Besides his wife, Alex is survived by four children, Alexander (Joyce) Horvath of Bakersfield, CA, Peter (Sarah) Horvath of West Seneca, NY, Kristine (Patrick) Baskerville of Orchard Park, NY, and Emily (Robert) Duchow of Bakersfield, CA; eight grandchildren, Camille, Alexander, Natalie, Christian, Jacob, Korren, Gabriel and Ella; and a sister, Gabriella (Deszo) Schaffer of West Grove, PA. The family will receive visitors at Lombardo Funeral Home, 3060 Abbott Road, Orchard Park from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 20. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21 at St. Bernadette's Roman Catholic Church, 5930 Abbott Rd., Orchard Park. Memorial donations may be made in Alex's memory to Hospice Buffalo through The Hospice Foundation of WNY, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227.
