Alma Lee Walker, a beacon of love and generosity, departed from this earth to be with the Lord on January 17, 2024. Born on August 11, 1951, in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Sylvia Josephine Miller and Dolphis Johnson, Alma's journey through life has been one of unwavering dedication to her family and those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love continued in Buffalo, New York, where she passed away, leaving behind a warmth that will forever be felt by all who knew her. Alma attended Eastside High School in Buffalo, New York and married Douglas Leroy Walker, Sr. shortly after. Alma's life was filled with a variety of roles that showcased her resilience and work ethic. She retired after more than three decades as a bus driver for Laidlaw and as a supervisor for P.S. Elliott Cleaning Services. But Alma's true vocation was the unwavering care and guidance she provided to her family and all those she encountered. Alma's interests were as vast as her heart. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother who found joy in playing digits and cooking. Her home was a sanctuary, welcoming to any and everybody, a place where love and laughter were always on the menu. Alma's passion for cooking was matched only by her dedication to her children and grandchildren, and her ability to keep her family united was her greatest accomplishment. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Alma will never forget her generous love. She leaves behind to treasure her memories a loving family that includes her eight children, Douglas Walker, Josephine Walker, Charlotte Jackson, Loretta Jackson, Michelle Crockett, Michael Crockett, Dr. Carlton Crockett, and Manette Crockett. Alma's nurturing spirit will also live on in her grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Chambers; brothers, Everett Chambers and Thomas Elston, as well as a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family members from the Powells, Kearneys, Washingtons, Hamiltons, Humphreys, and many cherished friends. As we say farewell to Alma, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply loved. Her legacy is not only in the family she so adored, but also in the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Her journey on earth may have concluded, but her story-written in the hearts of her family and friends will never end. Relatives and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. (near Eggert/ Sheridan Dr.) on Monday, January 29th from 11:00am-12:00pm. A funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00pm.
