HAYS - Amelia Burg This beautiful lady died of Covid, Friday, December 18, 2020. She was 97. She earned her bachelors degree at Buffalo State Teachers College (now SUNY Buffalo State) during World War II. After she graduated, she taught home economics at Youngstown High School. A student introduced her to his older brother, Harry Hays, and they married in 1947. Together they raised four children, and after they were grown, she returned to Buffalo State and earned her masters degree. She loved her children and their spouses, and she loved that the family grew to include 7 grandchildren and their spouses and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the light of her husbands life for over 73 years. She made wonderful meals with an abundance of delicious desserts, and she had a wicked good sense of humor. She will be missed every day by her husband, Harry Hays, her children, Barbara Kamp and her husband, Arthur, David Hays (and his late wife, Jeannie Campanelli), Thomas Hays and his wife, Ellen Friedland, and James Hays and his wife, Ruth. She will also be sorely missed by her grandchildren, Sara Collins and her husband, Scott, Nathaniel Kamp and his wife, Elizabeth, Oliver Hays and his wife, Justine, Anna Hays and her husband, Andrew Reynolds, Leah Hays and her husband, Daniel Gaffney, William Hays and his wife, Brittney, and Andrew Hays and his wife, Amanda, and by her great-grandchildren, Maya, Sophia, Michael, Benjamin, Caroline, Charlotte, Violet, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Parker, James and Francis. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
