Arthur J. Grasha

d. January 7, 2021

GRASHA - Arthur J. Arthur entered into rest suddenly and peacefully Thursday, January 7, 2021 after a long illness, with his loving family by his side. Well-known in the Buffalo community and State, Arthur retired from Buffalo Envelope Company in 2012 after a distinguished 31-year career in Sales. His life's work however was his service to helping underprivileged children in the Town of Tonawanda, through his dedication to The Boys & Girls Club for 69 years. A member since childhood, he moved into roles as a volunteer, baseball and basketball coach, mentor and employee as a young adult, and remained a member throughout his life. He felt The Club gave him a place, opportunities and life lessons that served his growth, and was dedicated to providing those opportunities for other children as well. He believed in the potential of all. As a 37-year Board Member and two-term President, Arthur inaugurated their annual golf tournament that ran over 30 years and was instrumental in the merger between the Tonawanda Clubs to form The Boys & Girls Clubs of The Northtowns. The recipient of many accolades and awards for his service and dedication, the gymnasium of The Town Club was named in his honor, in addition to being inducted into the Hall of Fame as an inaugural member. A United States Army Veteran, Arthur served his country in the Reserves for 8 years. An avid Buffalo sports fan, he was a lifelong distinguished athlete, playing softball, basketball, racquetball and golf. A loving and devoted husband and father, Arthur coached his daughter in her athletic career and proudly attended his children's matches and concerts, sharing with them his passion for athletics, music, education and community. He was a member of Sheridan Park and Brighton Golf Courses, Tan Tara GC, and WNY Racquetball Association, where he also served as a Board Member. He was the ultimate sportsman and gentleman, and always ran into someone from the Town. A devout Catholic, he attended mass weekly from youth to adulthood, as a member of All Saints Church and St. Paul's Church, and St. Christopher's. Arthur is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Roseanne; his adoring daughters Jenifer J. and Kori (Thaddeus Geraci), and cherished granddaughter Gianna Nash Geraci. He was the son of the late Michael and Lillian, brother to Robert and the late Helen and William. He also leaves behind 4 nieces and a nephew, along with many friends and colleagues. Donations are gladly accepted for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns, 54 Riverdale Ave., Buffalo, NY 14207. Arthur's incredible life and legacy is perhaps best summed: He was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. Arrangements by LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel).
