SMITH, Arthur J. of West Seneca, entered into rest August 23, 2025. Beloved husband of 56 years to the late Mary Eileen (nee McMahon) Smith; devoted father of Michael P. Smith, Sharon A. (John) Vinett, Madonna M. (Kevin) Crane, Thomas A. (Ma-Biquan) Smith, and Gregory J. (Patricia) Smith; cherished grandfather of MAJ Dennis (Casey) Vinett, Colleen (Benjamin) Thoreson, Vincent (Abbey) Crane, Katie (Alexis) Hamlin, Maria Crane, Megan Smith, Quinn Smith, Lauren (Francesco Todde) Smith, and Andrea Smith; adored great-grandfather of Ruthie Vinett, Jack Vinett, Christopher Thoreson, and Camden Thoreson; loving son of the late Arthur E. and Anne M. Smith; dear brother of the late Patricia M. Smith and brother-in-law of Joan (David) Fridmann, Ann McMahon, and the late Dr. James (Ann) McMahon; also survived by many family and friends. No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna on Friday morning at 9 o’clock. Please assemble at Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Art was a teacher in the Hamburg School District and the West Seneca School District where he also served as the Science Department Chairman. He was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association, Our Lady of Victory Legacy Alliance, and an Usher, Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady Victory Basilica. Art enjoyed golfing and gardening. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Our Lady of Victory Charities, 780 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna.
