Barbara Ann Frida-Scandale was born on May 24 1951. She died suddenly on August 30, 2023, leaving behind her loving husband James Scandale. Barbara grew up in Buffalo, New York and is survived by 3 sisters, Libby Frida-Day, Brenda Frida and Paulette Frida-Turner; one brother, Harry Lee Frida and several nieces and nephews. Barbara had a long career dedicated to helping others. She began her career as a nurse in the U.S. Army, Stationed at Landstuhl in Germany and later at Walter Reed Hosptial in Washington. This was followed by several years, working as a social worker with at-risk youth. She earned the degree of registered nurse and spent a number of years working in area hospitals as a Registered Nurse. She returned to school, obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University at Buffalo. She worked in several nursing positions in home health as well as an extensive period in psychiatric nursing at Erie County Hospital. Barbara enjoyed spending her spare time cooking, working in her beautiful garden which is the envy of the neighborhood, and spending time with her beloved dogs.
