Billie Unger

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Billie Unger (nee Mary Billie Fitzgibbons), on December 3, 2024, after a courageous journey with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Surrounded by love, she passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion to her family and community. Born in Buffalo, New York, Billie was known for her warmth, generosity, and ability to light up any room. Her infectious laugh and boundless compassion touched the lives of everyone she met. She began her career as a Kindergarten teacher at St. Amelia's and later excelled as Director of Corporate Development at the American Heart Association and Salvation Army, where her passion for service shone brightly. Billie is survived by her husband. Laurence Unger; her children, Erin Derme, Christina Derme, Michele Fyvie (Jeff), Michael Derme (Lisa), Mara Endl (Michael), and Anthony Derme (Jennifer); her brother, Sean Fitzgibbons (Matthew); 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Billie's honor to Our Lady of Peace Rehabilitation Center in Lewiston, NY.
