Of Boston, NY entered
into rest on December
13, 2024. Son of
the late Veneard
and Norma (nee Winter) Neri
and brother of the late Diane
Baumwald and Timothy Neri,
Brian is survived by his wife,
Linda (nee Jacob) Neri, brother
Douglas (Suzanne), sister
Robin Shreve (Michael) along
with aunt Lois Yeates, cousins,
nieces, nephews and great nieces
and nephews. Brian’s love of
history was reflected by his career
and in his many interests.
A history teacher for 32 years at
Buffalo’s Lafayette High School,
Brian’s interests encompassed
amateur radio, sail boats, antique
motorcycles and British
cars, telegraphy and a serious
love of reenacting and living
history as well as participation
in a WWIl style radio show
called “Sentimental Journey.”
A Vietnam veteran who survived
the siege of Dak To, Brian
owned an extensive collection
of military uniforms as well as
WWII-era military radios, many
of which he restored to working
condition, often listening to
the Sunday big band program
on AM 740 out of Toronto. In
retirement, he learned to fly
taildragger planes and in a recent
trip to England flew a WWII
Spitfire! For many years he was
active in the British Car Club
of WNY, the Buffalo Amateur
Radio Repeater Association,
secretary to Empire State
West, the local chapter of the
Military Vehicle Preservation
Association, the Canadian
Vintage Motorcycle Club, Riley
RM Club, Morris Minor club,
as well as the Douglas, Ariel,
BSA, MG and Triumph clubs
among others. Highlights for
Brian were WWII reenactment
weekends at Fort Niagara in
“Soldiers Through the Ages,” as
well as at Fort Indian Town Gap,
PA and the WWII living history
weekend with The WWIl Polish
Living History Group reenactors
at the Eisenhower Farm,
Gettysburg as well as Chuck
Yeager’s military air museum in
Virginia Beach. He achieved a
life-long ambition by learning to
ball room dance. He shared his
expertise in his many areas of
interest and offered help to all
who needed it. He welcomed,
he mentored, he loved and was
loved. Relatives and friends may
visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL
HOME (Southtowns Chapel)
3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake
Ave. on Friday (April 4) from
4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at St.
John the Baptist Church, 6895

Saturday morning at 10 o’clock.
