Brigita Anna Alks

March 19, 1942 — August 8, 2025

Age 83, of Buffalo, entered into rest on August 8, 2025. Beloved wife of 58 years to Vitauts Alks; loving daughter of the late Arnolds Nikolajs and Anna Natalija (nee Valters) Dobels and dear sister of the late Inese Astrida Dobels. Brigita was a music teacher in the Kenmore School District. She also conducted a choir at St. John's Latvian Lutheran Church in Toronto as well as a men's ensemble (Straume). For many years, she sang in the choir at St. Louis Catholic Church in Buffalo, and participated in productions of Opera Sacra. Brigita also participated in Latvian song festivals in Germany, Canada and the United States. She lived life to its fullest as long as she could. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. No prior visitation. A celebration of Brigita's life will be held Saturday, August 23rd at 11:00 AM at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church, 200 Balmoral Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M4V 1J6.
