Calogero Angelo "Charles" Attardo

Visitation, Lombardo Funeral Home, 885 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst NY on Monday, September 16th from 4-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 160 Court St., Buffalo at 10 am. Please assemble at church. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Calogero Charles Angelo Attardo March 15, 1926 September 10, 2019 Charles Attardo of Kenmore, NY and Seminole, FL, loving husband of Rita (Galletti) Attardo passed away in St. Petersburg, FL with his family at his side. He was born and raised in Montedoro, Sicily, the son of the late father Angelo Attardo and mother Calogera Attardo. He served in the Italian Army, post WWII, from 1947-1948 and was stationed in Bassano Del Grappa in Northern Italy. After returning to Montedoro, he married his wife in 1954 and immigrated to Buffalo, NY where he was employed at the Bethlehem Steel Lackawanna plant for 35 years. He and Rita retired to Orlando, FL in 1988 and worked part time at Walt Disney World where he served as an ambassador guide speaking Italian and French to assist visitors. Charles was a devoted husband and father, who enjoyed spending time with his family, extended family and friends. He was also a talented gardener and enjoyed dancing with his wife who he adored. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Margarets Church of Buffalo NY and Blessed Mother of the Rosary Church of Montedoro where he returned regularly throughout his life. He was especially proud to have chaired the committee to fundraise and make it possible to have a bronze statue of Papa Giovani placed beside the church of Montedoro. Charles was the founder and Co-President of the Montedoro Club of Buffalo which he started in 1985 together with the late Dr. Nicholas Bona. Charles will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family and the simple joys he found in living every day. In addition to his wife, Rita to whom he was married for 65 years he is also survived by three children, Angelo Attardo of Kenmore, NY; Rose Attardo of St. Petersburg, FL; and Caroline Attardo Genco and her husband David Fusco of Newton, MA. He also leaves his five grandchildren, Brandon Genco, the late Christina Genco, Joseph Genco, Anthony Orlowski and Bennett Orlowski; and three great grandchildren Finley, Cove In Lieu of Flowers the family requests donations in his honor to the Alzheimers https://act.alz.org/site/TR/Events/Tributes-AlzheimersChampions?pg=fund&fr_id=1060&pxfid=586955
