Cathleen Ann Haar

July 8, 1953 — September 2, 2024

The world became brighter on July 8, 1953 when Cathleen Ann Haar was born. On September 2, 2024 at 71, Cathleen of Randolph, NY entered into peaceful rest surrounded in love. After graduating from Buffalo State College, Cathy explored many endeavors. From respected stained glass artist to fearless horsewoman, social worker to mortgage banker, chef, and everything in between, Cathy was led by an adventurous & free spirit. With an untamed & resilient soul, she could seemingly move mountains. Never with idle hands, the definition of 'hard-working' and yet, she always found time to create magic and whimsy for her children. Instilling perseverance, resiliency, and an unwavering work ethic, her legacy will live on in the hearts of many. Known by her grandson as, 'Grandma Horsey', she was overwhelmed with pride bearing witness as Gabriel embarked on his college study abroad. She beamed with light while teaching her son, Mat the family trade of stained glass, and stood by his side as a warrior through his cancer journey. Through tough love and faith, Cathy saw her son Richard through his darkest challenges. She full-heartedly contented in his endeavor to build his own general contracting business from the bottom up. Years prior, Cathy saw her daughter, Amanda off in pursuit of a career far from home in Hollywood, and later helped ground her to her country roots in New Mexico, sharing belly laughs over their mutual passion for all of God's furred, hoofed, and 4-legged creatures. In 2000, Cathys dream to visit Ireland came true. Accompanied by her oldest sister, Martha and her parents, George "Bud" and Barb, they inhaled crisp, lush countrysides, prayed in St. Brendans Cathedral, explored Japanese Gardens in Tully and warmed their hearts, sharing breath with donkeys at a sanctuary in Liscarroll. This trip further strengthened a family bond that was woven together by their strong Irish heritage in respect of those who paved the cobblestone before them. Irish Blessing "May God give you, for every storm, a rainbow, for every tear, a smile, for every care, a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sign a sweet song, and an answer for each prayer." As a devoted prayer warrior and faithful child of God, Cathleen believed in miracles and instilled hope in all who crossed her path. Despite many health obstacles, she always found reason to rejoice. In her last prayer journal entry, she reflected upon James 1:2-4 'Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy, for you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing'. Preceded in death by her parents George and Barbara Haar, and leaving a legacy through her children Mathew (Carrie) Snyder, Amanda (Steven) Pecora-Sutphen, Richard (Cassandra) Preston, & chosen son, Clifton Krotz; cherished grandson, Gabriel Snyder (and chosen granddaughters, Alaina & Lyvinea); her siblings Martha (Pierce) Ryan, George Haar & Margaret Claire Haar; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces & nephews, cousins, chosen family, & all of those she loved and touched deeply along the way, Cathy's memory will be a guiding star for all who knew her. In remembrance, a celebration of Cathys life will be held at Allegany State Park. Particulars will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help orphaned foals throughout New Mexico and the Navajo Nation at https://www.pennylanefoals.com/. Condolences may be made on this page.
