Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles Edward Collins, who peacefully departed this life on February 3, 2026.

Born on December 22, 1940, in Bessemer, Alabama, Charles was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whose presence brought strength, laughter, and steady guidance to all who knew him. He was known for his kind heart, strong work ethic, sense of humor, wisdom, and generosity. He never hesitated to show up for the people he loved. Known for his resourcefulness, he made the most of every opportunity and every dollar.

Charles spent his life dedicated to teaching others about the Bible. He found joy in garage sales, music, beautifying his yard, buffets, and telling stories. Each year, he cherished hosting a picnic with his Christian family, creating lasting memories filled with love and togetherness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Edna, and their children, Charles Collins, Jr., and Christie (Michael) Allen; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; siblings: Alecia "Ann" (Keith) Stokes, Dorothy Taylor, Eddie "Boot" (Kilcha "Kim") Bell, Christine Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He leaves behind a message that will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him: "Stay loyal, and I will see you all on Paradise Lane."

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends who reached out with calls, cards, texts, meals, and words of comfort. Your love and support have meant more than words can express.

The family also extends deep appreciation to the caregivers who provided comfort and dignity during his final weeks.
