Charles D. Hughes

November 19, 1934 - September 26, 2026

Of Hamburg, entered into rest September 26, 2026. Beloved husband to his childhood sweetheart of 60 years to the late June (nee Brown) Hughes; devoted father of Deborah Hughes, Sherry Hughes and Cynthia (Robert) Madar; cherished grandfather of Nicole (Chad) Marquardt, Venessa Hughes, Benjamin Krencik, Nicholas (Eva) Przybyciel and Nolan Przybyciel; adored great-grandfather of Rian and Samantha Marquardt; loving son of the late Clifford and Rita Hughes; dear brother of Dennis (Norma), late Thomas (late Mary Jo) and the late James Hughes; also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Charles worked at Bethlehem Steel for many years working in their furnace room. He loved the outdoors; camping and fishing. Charles and June traveled across the world, which included many cruises. He had a green thumb, which led to his passion for gardening. He was also an amazing woodworker, passing down pieces to all of his family.

Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) 3060 Abbott Rd., near Lake Ave. on Sunday (October 4) from 12-5PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Rd., (corner of South Park Ave.) on Monday morning at 10:30am. Please assemble at Church. A private inurnment will be held for the family at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charles' name to Hospice Foundation.
