Chuck started at Bethlehem Steel in the 1960s and was a planning and maintenance foreman there for much of his career. For over 30 years he was very much respected and admired by his co-workers. Many of them called him Charlie. He invented an important improvement in one of the key machines at work which he and Bethlehem Steel later patented. At home he was a farmer and gardener growing garlic, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers among other vegetables he grew so much produce that he shared them with many people in the neighborhood
