After serving his country in North Africa during WW II, John graduated from technical school after learning about a new invention called 'television.' He worked his way up to Technical Supervisor over nearly 40 years at WBEN-TV. His true passion, however, was art, and he pursued professional development of his talent at University of Buffalo, in Carrara, Italy, and at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. His favored media were oil painting, sculpture, bronze casting and lithography. He was permitted to copy masterpieces at The Metropolitan Museum in NYC, the National Portrait Gallery in DC, and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence Italy. He was a member of numerous Buffalo and West Seneca Art Societies and portrait groups. John traveled the world, and especially loved his trips to Florence, Rome and Paris, where he visited his mentors: Renaissance and Impressionist artists. Upon return to his home studio in West Seneca, he created masterpieces of his own. His last very large oil, 'Father Baker and the Blessed Mother,' graces the lobby of Mercy Nursing Facility at OLV where he resided the last year of his life in their loving care. No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Fourteen Holy Helpers Church, 1345 Indian Church Rd., West Seneca on Saturday (October 28) at 10 oclock. Please assemble at Church.
