DYSON - Daniel D. Of West Seneca, entered into rest June 22, 2017. Beloved and devoted father of Cheri (nee Dyson) (James, III) McParlane and Daniel D.J. (Melissa) Dyson; loving son of the late Joseph "Dick" and Olive (nee Brant) Dyson; dear brother of Richard (Geraldine) Dyson, Gerald (late Kathleen) Dyson, William (late Teresa) Dyson and Sandra (nee Dyson) Bell; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake Ave. on Sunday from 2-7 PM where prayers will be said Monday morning at 8:15 o'clock and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Church at 9:30 o'clock. Interment St. Matthew's Cemetery. Daniel D. Dyson of West Seneca, a retired supervisor at the West Seneca Developmental Center, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 63. Born in Buffalo, he was a 1971 graduate of South Park High School, began working at the Developmental Center later that year as a developmental aide and studied nursing at Erie Community College. He retired as a supervisor in 2000. As a boy, he was a member of the boys club at the Seneca Babcock Community Center and delivered The Buffalo Evening News. He also worked at Slim Booth's corner store in the Seneca-Babcock neighborhood and was a bartender at two taverns in the area, Tobin's and the Thruway Inn. By the age of 21, he had saved enough money to buy his first home on Marie Street. He was a former president of the Southside Social Club and a Mason. He was a West Seneca Democratic Committee member and a graduate of the West Seneca Citizens Police Academy. Mr. Dyson enjoyed swimming, casinos and attending country music concerts and the Erie County Fair. A car enthusiast, he took his 1957 Chevy to cruise nights.
