David Sharpe passed away February 23, 2010, at age 79. He was a highly decorated Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, serving as a front line combat correspondent at the famous Chosin Reservoir Campaign. A gifted poet and storyteller, David would later become popular as the bartender of choice for patrons of well known bars and bistros in New York City's Greenwich Village. He prepped for that role as one of the bartenders at Buffalo's fabled Laughlin's Bar in the late 1950s and early '60s. For many years, David also owned a restaurant in Portugal's Mediterranean Lagos-Algarve region called "Godot's." He is survived by his brother, William D. Sharpe, M.D. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be notified.
