Dean R. Oberg

OBERG - Dean R. Loving husband and father of two, passed away at the age of 72, on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Dean was born on June 6, 1949, in Jamestown, NY, to John and Marian Oberg. On February 23, 1974, he married Ruth F. (nee Volkert) Oberg. Dean was an avid lover of music. He was a singer songwriter and had a passion for creating his own music. He also enjoyed playing at open mics and with several bands. He had a special love of the Beatles, Byrds, and Diamond Rio. He spent over 30 years working for Health Care Plan, now Univera Healthcare, in the IT and Web Development departments. He also had a longtime love of model and amateur rocketry and he was a member of the National Space Society (NSS), The National Association of Rocketry (NAR), and The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Dean had a quick wit, a great love of family, a drive for researching family history, and a kind and compassionate spirit. Dean was preceded in death by his father John, and his mother, Marian, his sister Joyce (Saxton), and brothers John and Randall. He is survived by his wife Ruth, his children, Carrie (Goetz) and Jason, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Snyder Chapel), 4614 Main St., on Wednesday from 5-7 PM, then again at LIND FUNERAL HOME, 805 West Third St., Jamestown, NY, on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Interment Sunset Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Deans Memory to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
