GALMBACHER - Donald F. Of Orchard Park, entered into rest on August 25, 2021. Beloved husband of 37 years to Sally (nee Bogal) Galmbacher; devoted father of Donna (Clay) Carr of San Antonio, TX, James Galmbacher of Alden, NY, Paul (Karen) Galmbacher of Orchard Park, NY, and David Galmbacher of Hamburg, NY; cherished grandfather of Deanna Carr, Melissa (Ken) Scutt, Jamilee (Andrew) Drozdowski of North Carolina, and the late Christopher Carr, and greatgrandfather of six; loving son of the late Frank and Emma Galmbacher; dear brother of Marie (late John) Kalinowski; also survived by his faithful companion Maggie, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd., Orchard Park, near Lake Ave., on Wednesday from 3-8PM, where a Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 9 oclock, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernadettes RC Church, Orchard Park at 10 oclock. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the local SPCA. Donald graduated from St. Anns Elementary School and McKinley High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He achieved AKC titles for his Black Labrador Retrievers, as well as Maggie, in confirmation, agility, and retriever trials in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Canada. He was a NY Safety Instructor and a member of the Buffalo Shooting Club. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed hunting season at his cabin in East Otto with his sons and cousins. He spent five years at Fantasy Island where he was the original Black Bart. Donald worked at the NYC Railroad in the mail car for five years, spent 35 years in the United States Postal Service, and worked 44 years at Cottrell, which later became First Student. He enjoyed gardening, Westerns, picnics, and travel, but his greatest love of all was his family. He always helped and cared for his ill family members. He loved to tell stories of his many life experiences. We will all miss his sparkling blue eyes and infectious smile. We love you, Don, and you will always be in our hearts forever.
