A time to be born: Dorothy Ann Gourdin was born in Buffalo, New York to the late Walter & Mary Etta (nee Prince) Gourdin. A time to labor: Dorothy was educated in the Lackawanna, and Buffalo Public School Systems attending Lafayette High School. Dorothy began her career in Selective Service as a Data Review Technician prior to becoming a Claim Representative in the Social Security Administration before retiring in April 1999. Dot as she was affectionately known, loved the camaraderie and closeness of her co-workers and was always willing to help others on her job and the outside. A time to love: Dot loved her nieces and nephews, she was their biggest cheerleader always supporting them in their many endeavors. Dot was a loving big sister/surrogate mother to Brian and a fun loving sibling, cousin, sister-in-law and friend. A time to live: Dot loved the good life of retirement. She was an avid sports fan who attended many football games to cheer on her home team Buffalo Bills. She traveled, loved to play bingo, and the slot machines at the casinos she so enjoyed. A time to die: Early on Good Friday morning, at Garden Gate Nursing Facility; our Heavenly Father whispered well done, good and faithful servant... come, enter into the joy of Your Lord. (Matt.25:21) Dot has answered the call and is reunited with her loving parents, siblings and other family members singing and praising unto God Almighty. A beautiful flower garden: Dorothy leaves behind a treasure chest of beautiful memories of love and devotion: (2) siblings: Janet (Jesse) Nailor, Los Angeles, C.A. & Brian K. (Delphine) Gourdine, Conyers, G.A.; Sisters-in-Law: Eleanor Gourdin, East Orange, N.J. & DeLois Gourdin, Lackawanna, N.Y.; devoted cousin: Pauletta Prince Stines; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dorothy was predeceased in death by her parents, Walter & Mary Etta, stepmother, Helen, her siblings, Wilbur, Walter (Butch), Barbara & Sheila and nephew Jason. An earthly place of rest: Lakeside Cemetery, 4810 Camp Road, Hamburg, New York.
