Edmonia D. Watkins, "Dottie," as she was known by family and friends, was called to heavenly reward on November 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. A product of the Buffalo Public School System, she began honing her artistic skills at P.S. #75, 8, 16, 37 and later graduated from Lafayette High School. Dottie studied at the RCA Institute of Television Production and Direction and went on to major in English at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She said that her talent was God-given, her writing skill acquired, which stemmed from a love of books and reading. To know Dottie was to know her love of animals. Over the years she was the owner/mother to baby chicks, rabbits, goldfish, stray cats and, of course, her many dogs (Poobie, Zachary, Olivia, Rodney, Tiny and one naughty dog whose name is lost to time). Despite her numerous written works, Dottie never wrote a word about herself or spoke of her many accomplishments. We will never know if the reason was modesty, her humbleness, or her pursuit of privacy. What we do know is that she committed herself to loving and serving others and being obedient to the Word of God. Dottie was the oldest daughter of the late Albert J., Jr., and Mattie M. Thompson. She is cherished in loving memory by her husband Timothy Muller; her sisters, Pamela Sharpe (the late Ronald), Yvonne "Dee Dee" Askew (Marvin I); her nephews Aric Shelton (Sari), Marvin Askew II (Johnette), Brian Askew (J-Shawna); great nieces Lynazia Harris-Askew , Arica and Alexis Shelton, Taylor Kaye and Joy Matteos; great nephews Noah Cordero and Trevor Askew. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Rebecca (William) Smith and Sara Muller, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. Services are scheduled for January 20 at 11am at St. Paul's AME Zion Church, 610 E. Eagle Street Buffalo, NY 14210. Burial Forest Lawn.
