Engracia C. Baird

Engracia Cordova Baird, who went by “Grace,” passed away quietly in her sleep on Sunday, March 24th 2025. She was indeed a woman of grace. A calm and humble person who loved the simpler things in life. Her journey began in the small town of Del Rio, Texas on March 13th, 1932. After marrying a young Air Force fighter pilot, her world rapidly expanded. She made homes in states throughout the southwest, west and finally settled here in Tonawanda, NY in 1964. The next decades kept her busy raising her three young children through adolescence. After those demands subsided she enjoyed hours spent outside in her gardens or in her kitchen. Though not formally trained, she was an excellent chef who made daily meals or holiday banquets completely from scratch. They were treats that will be sorely missed but always remembered. Her happiest times were those spent with her family of children, grandchildren, and her pet dogs and cats. She passed as she lived, in humble dignity. She requested no memorials or services and a simple cremation. She had a strong faith in Jesus, and resides with him now…
