Eric Blaine Werner, 47, of Hamburg, NY, passed away peacefully at ECMC Hospital on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Born February 3,1977, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to the late Stephen and Connie (Steinberg) Werner, Eric was a proud graduate of Wilkes University who made a lasting impact during his time on this planet. His many achievements include being a devoted father to two wonderful children, building a successful career as a director of software engineering, securing a patent for autonomous vehicle technology, lecturing at numerous universities, earning a black belt in Kung Fu, and sharing his love of music as a singer and harmonica player in a blues band.
He is survived by his beloved children, Alexandra Werner and Benjamin Werner of Hamburg, NY, and his brother, Robert Werner (Amber) of Mooresville, NC. In addition to his parents, Eric was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie (Werner) MacLeod.
Erics zest for learning and life was infectious. He was an avid reader and a lover of the sciences, particularly astronomy, often sharing his passion through his infamous "Space Facts" with anyone willing to listen - especially his children. His love for music was evident in his frequent sing-alongs to Beatles classics and impromptu jam sessions with harmonicas, keyboards, and bongos. He was a foodie at heart, who loved whipping up meals by combining random ingredients without recipes, and invented Super Secret Steak Seasoning, which was always in high demand. He enjoyed taking fun-filled trips to the family cabin to spend time with loved ones.
Eric will live on through the memories he created with his family and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd., near Lake Ave., on Saturday (May 31st) from 10-11 AM, where a Funeral Service will immediately follow.
