George M. Privateer, Jr.

George Privateer, 83, passed away on September 18, 2026. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years Sharon (nee Logel), his children George (Christine) Privateer and Mark (Kathleen) Privateer, grandchildren Jared, Paige, Bryce, Mac, and Aspyn, his sister-in-law Trudie Logel of Florida, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was born March 14, 1943, to George and Carmela (nee Vacco) Privateer, and was proceeded in death by his parents and his sisters Rosella (Frank) Cardarella and Linda Brandel.

George attended St. Joseph Collegiate Institute and was a graduate of Syracuse University, where he was a member of the football team. After graduation, he spent time as a member of the St. Louis Football Cardinals with the National Football League. He was a proud Army veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne division in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He enjoyed coaching, spending years coaching little league baseball and football, then serving as a volunteer football coach at Frontier High School. He retired from his position as a plant supervisor at Scott Aviation in 2005.

After retirement, George dedicated his time to helping fellow veterans at the Western New York VA Hospital, where he served as a founding member of the VA's Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) Advisory Council.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel) 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. (Near Eggert and Sheridan) Amherst, NY on Wednesday September 23rd from 4 - 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Leo the Great R.C. Church, 885 Sweet Home Rd., Amherst, NY on Thursday September 24th at 9 AM. Please assemble at church.
