Age 92, of Tonawanda, entered into rest on December 4, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Sidney O. Shepard; loving mother of Peter E. Shepard; cherished daughter of the late John and Annie (nee Campbell) Berney; dearest sister of Wilma Todd and loving aunt of Steven Todd, Tracey Counts, and Mark Wilcox. Gloria was a retired elementary school teacher from the Ken-Ton School District, working at Washington, Lindbergh, Holmes and Hoover elementary schools. Upon retiring, Gloria substitute taught for 10 years at St. Amelia's Elementary School. An avid Bills fan for '1 o'clock games,' Gloria also enjoyed reading mysteries, watching British mysteries, and talking to friends on the phone. Gloria was also a longtime member of Deerhurst Presbyterian Church. She lived by the motto 'God made the Scots a wee bit better.' Always the neighborhood welcomer (brownies) and organizer of activities. Gloria was her son's snow day checker on the television and biggest cheerleader when schools were closed. Above all, Gloria will be remembered for her sweetness and her compassion for others. Relatives and friends may visit Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. (near Eggert/Sheridan Dr.) on Monday, December 9 from 4-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Deerhurst Presbyterian Church, 257 Deerhurst Park Blvd., Kenmore on Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm. Inurnment Acacia Park Cemetery.
