Grace Esther Peckham Meyers

March 7, 1926 — January 11, 2026

Grace Peckham Meyers of Hamburg passed away quietly at home surrounded by family on Sunday, January 11, 2026.  She was 99.

Born on a Sunday, and passed from life to resurrection life on Sunday, Grace had a lifelong, deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ throughout her nearly 100 years.

Living up to her name, Grace was always the gracious host, friend, neighbor, mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt.  She was known for her pies, Christmas cookies, quiche and the best-ever lasagna.

Born in Springfield, Missouri, Grace lived most of her life in Western New York, growing up in Fredonia, Batavia and Westfield, and living her adult life in Jamestown, Hamburg, and Armor.

Grace graduated from Fredonia State Teachers College, and taught grade school in Jamestown before having children.  She returned to teaching, as a substitute in Hamburg, after her children reached school age.

Having spent some of her teenage years living across from the ballpark in Batavia, Grace loved baseball and had a remarkable knowledge of the game.  She could surprise us all with the perfect strategy, well ahead of the commentators.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Frank and Beatrice Peckham, her husband of 69 years Richard "Dick" Meyers, her sister Faith McGuire, her brother Donald "DJ" Peckham and his wife Loretta, and Faith's son Michael and daughter Cathy.

Grace is survived by her four children Richard (Karen) Meyers of Washington, Stephen (late Mary) Meyers of Florida, Janice (Stephen) Piper of Hamburg, and Linda (Don) Carman of California, by her grandchildren Jeffrey and Wesley Meyers, Sarah and Zachary Piper, and Kristen Carmen (Matthew) Beard, by her newly arrived great- grandson Arlo Beard, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children.

Service info will be posted soon.

Grace, well done, thou good and faithful servant.
