A retired District Conservationist from Lockport, NY Greg had a long and varied career in the USDA Soil Conservation Service; later named Natural Resources Conservation Service. He served 31 years and was most notably a District Conservationist in a number of New York counties. Greg was focused on making the environment better for everyone through conservation practices. His passion was creating habitats for wildlife, but also for agriculture and assisting farmers implement conservation practices that would benefit both the farmer and the environment. He was a active with the Niagara County Federation of Conservation Clubs and Pheasants Forever and worked with the Niagara County 4H to reintroduce pheasants into the area. After his retirement he continued working with farmers for several years through Western NY Crop Management. He was passionate about conservation and had a significant influence in recruiting young people into conservation work throughout NYS. During his career, Greg received many awards from the USDA and NRCS including The Civil Rights Award and The Thousands Points of Light Initiative from President George W Bush for his contributions to the needs of the community and support of the USDA. Greg also served on many boards including The Niagara County Youth Board from 2007 until late. During that time, he was Chairman or Vice Chairman for many of his 15 years. Greg was concerned for the direction of our communitys youth and pushed hard for the hands-on knowledge he could share using his conservation talents. In retirement, Greg became passionate in serving the community on a larger scale. He was a member of the board for the Morlock Foundation where he served the community hands on at the Evangel Assembly of God food pantry; the third largest pantry in Erie County. Whether it was unloading 20 tons of food, going to local grocery stores to pick up donations, praying with clients in the parking lot or entertaining volunteers with his jokes and laughter he loved every moment. Greg Loved The Lord, his family, this great country, the Buffalo Bills and the land and being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting with the guys, bird hunting and watching the dogs on point, and taking friends and family for boat rides around Lime Lake. He had a knack for making people laugh, sometimes without saying a word. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
