Helen A. Linch

September 17, 1939 — May 30, 2023

Helen Ann Linch was born on September 17, 1939 in Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Nardin Academy in 1957 and received her bachelor's degree from D'youville University in 1961. She spent her 34 year career in the lab at ECMC, weathering the ups and downs of the hospital and the city of Buffalo, eventually rising to the head of the department. Helen lived on Manchester Place in her family home, for her entire life, but she traveled the world. China, Kenya, Israel, Italy were just a few of the destinations she explored with her favorite spots being Paris and New York. She was a skilled baker, a gourmet cook, the quintessential hostess. She was a voracious reader with expansive taste. A daily reader of the New York Times and a lifelong subscriber to the New Yorker, but she wasnt above a cheeky Regency Romance novela Bridgerton fan ahead of her time! Her style was impeccable and her taste exquisite. To those that knew her well, Helens true gifts were her warmth, her generosity and her caring nature. She was Aunt Helen, or Auntie Poppins to her great nieces, great nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. With her cherished neighbors she enjoyed football games, block parties and the support of a loving community who sustained her through the pandemic. Her favorite regular date, was her get together with the Nardin girls who maintained a monthly luncheon that she treasured. "Aunt Helen', as she quickly became to all who met her, left the world the way she lived, clear in her intentions, fiercely independent and deeply loved. We will miss her terribly.
