HOLLSTEIN, Herman J. Jr. entered into eternal rest on December 22, 2020 surrounded by his children. Herman was preceded in death by his forever bride of 68 years, Johanna and his daughter, Michele A. Holowaty (Michael). He is survived by his dedicated son and best buddy Mark, and his proud daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Peter Baumgardner and Kathleen and Kyle Mulqueen. He was the loving Popster and Grandpa of Justin, Craig (Gaelin Carrig) and Kyle (Melissa) Baumgardner and Brina Mulqueen. Special Pops to Bernadette "Berdeen" Boinski. Herman was the son of the late Herman, Sr., and Blanche (Ernst) and was preceded in death by his four sisters Ruth (John) Lawrie, Doris (Gerald) Cummings, Kathleen (Henry) Secord and Beatrice (Raymond) Radzikowski and brother-in-law, Arthur (Mae) Stachoski. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends. Throughout his 94 years, Herman inspired all of those whose lives he touched with his genuine love and deep care for all. With an unwavering commitment to God, his family and his country, he exemplified loyalty, honesty, and generosity. Herman was a God-fearing man whose gentle strength embodied the true definition of a gentleman. His determined will and humble spirit will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Herman worshiped and was an active member of South Park Methodist Church. Having been a life-long resident of Buffalo, "Bud" had a four-decade long career as the Director of Maintenance and Engineering at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. His summers were spent relaxing at the family cottage he built in Long Beach, Ontario, where he was the unofficial Mayor and cherished by all of our extended beach family. As a proud WWII Veteran, serving in the 289th Infantry Regiment, 75th Division, Herman was dedicated to maintaining a bond to his fellow veterans. He will be remembered by everyone at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, especially his work-out buddies, who enriched his life with brotherhood. The family would like to extend their thanks to all of the special people who made our Dads life so full of love, friendship and laughter.
