In Loving Memory of Dr. Hiroshi TAKITA, age 92. It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Hiroshi Takita on August 6, 2023. A loving father of Mark (Delphine); a beloved life partner of Rosemarie Pitoniak for almost 40 years; former husband to the late Claire, mother of his son; and a beloved friend to many. He was born in Japan to a family of prestigious doctors, renowned entrepreneurs and politicians. He graduated from Keio Univ. in 1960, after which he embarked on a remarkable path as a thoracic surgeon in Buffalo, where he spent over six decades tirelessly working to combat lung cancer. Hiroshi's journey through life was marked by an incredibly deep commitment to making a difference in the world and his legacy is one of unwavering dedication, boundless love and patience. Hiroshi worked at Roswell Park beginning in 1961,and served as the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for an additional 15 years before going into private practice and finally retiring in 2020. Hiroshi's leadership and expertise left an indelible mark, and his dedication to his patients extended far, far beyond the operating room. Hiroshi was an avid tennis player his entire life. He played several times a week, almost until the day he passed away, and is missed by a large community of friends he made while playing tennis. Hiroshi was also a piano player who enjoyed classical music and plays. Relatives and friends are invited to join in remembering Hiroshi. Service will take place at the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME, 4614 Main St, Snyder, NY, on Tues., August 15, at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
