IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ira
Bloomfield
September 9, 1945 – March 30, 2026
Of North Tonawanda, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026. Beloved husband of Mildred "June" (nee Powell) Bloomfield; Devoted father April Robinson, Michelle Bloomfield, Nadeen (George) Tutuska, Craig (Tiffany) Bloomfield, and the late Kingsley Robinson; Cherished papa of Darrik (Marissa), William, Olivia, Bryson, Alanna, and Vanessa; Adored great-papa of Lennon, Cassius, and Barrett; Dear brother of Vivian and Monica. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Ira was a gentleman of creation, and action. He was filled to the brim with love for his family, love for music, and love for gardening. Born in Jamaica in 1945, he spent his child-and-young-adulthood perpetually outside: enjoying fruit, exploring nature, tinkering with anything electronic or mechanical, and recording and playing live music all over the island, most notably as band leader for The Viscounts. In the 1970s, after building a beautiful family with his beloved Millie (June), he traveled from May Pen, Jamaica to the United States with the Modern Sounds of Steel band. Upon careful consideration and with his family at the forefront of his mind, he brought his wife and 5 children to Western New York to start a new life together. Along with an extensive career as a musician, Ira found success as a Computer Technician for Nynex and later as Owner and CEO of his own business Dalab Computers. Ira was a well-respected man, loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. With the band Caribbean Extravaganza, Ira was able to travel the world; to the Bahamas, across the United States and Canada, and throughout Jamaica. He had a true and deep love for music; an incredible guitar and bass player. His respect for the craft was more than admirable. It was the catalyst for his children and grandchildren's own love and passion for musicality. He often played his own sounds and favorite records for his family, encouraging them to develop their own tastes and relationship with music, while upholding the importance of instrumentation. His creativity, passion, and dedication was also evident in his natural Green Thumb. When he wasn't refining his musical technicality at home, he was in his garden, finding new things to plant, and tending to those he had already nursed from seedlings. But most importantly, he loved. He loved his wife, Millie (June), his children Kingsley, April, Michelle, Nadeen, and Craig, and his grand and great-grandchildren. His family were a special and irreplaceable joy to him. Each of us have unforgettable, jovial, edifying memories with our Papa. He taught us all what it means to move through life in your own way, while still maintaining an invaluable responsibility to your family. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice Buffalo or Roswell Park Cancer Research Center.
