Giacomo (Jack) Vincent Alessandra September 10, 1944 April 12, 2022 Beloved and devoted husband of Diane (Civello), Jack V. Alessandra, 77, of Buffalo, NY entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Jack was the honored father of Kim (Thomas) Grasso and Jennifer Alessandra and step-father to Nina Chiavetta (Bob Jocher) and Christina Stapf (Jordan). Cherished grandfather of Alyssa, Thomas and Anthony Grasso, Isabella and Madeline Dasta, and Brielle and Addilyn Stapf. From a family of seven children Jack was the dear brother of Ralph (Dorothy), Angelo (Carol), Louise, and John (Diane) Alessandra and brother-in-law to Marie Jagiello (Dennis) and Roslyn Civello. Jack was pre-deceased by his treasured brothers, Samuel and Vincent (Christine), his mother Agnes (Coppola) and father Samuel Alessandra. Coming from a large family, Jack was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. A retiree of General Motors, Jack spent his career at both Chevrolet Delevan Avenue, Buffalo and Chevrolet Tonawanda, where he was a general assemblyman and forklift operator. A first generation Italian-American, Jack was known for his love of Italian heritage. He notably travelled to Italy with his wife and admired the culture, food, wine, churches, and beauty of Italian cities. He and his wife Diane also enjoyed travelling to warm climates and beach cities, and were especially fond of Destin, Florida. Jack loved music, especially Frank Sinatra, jazz, and the singing of his wife Diane. Jack was an avid sports enthusiast, especially football. Not only did he love watching NFL and college football, he also played football recreationally throughout his youth and adult years. Jack had many friends that shared these common interests and maintained many friendships he forged as a child. Loved ones and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, on Tuesday (4/19) from 4:00 8:00PM. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 160 Court St, Buffalo, on Wednesday (4/20) at 9:30AM, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Immediate family only are asked to meet at the funeral home at 8:15AM prior to mass. A celebration of life will be held, after interment, at Salvatores Italian Gardens.
