James P Spano Of Irving, NY, entered into peaceful rest on the afternoon of April 7, 2024. James was born in Buffalo, NY on May 5, 1946 to the late James and Mary (nee Chimera) Spano. Devoted husband of the late Sharon (Cichy) Spano and Beloved father of Amanda (Jason) Taber. Loving step-grandfather of Abigail and Cadence Taber, and brother-in law to Sandra (Kim) Regan, and Carol (Brian) Ballas. Also survived by nieces Karen Regan, Lauren (Kody) Holt, Colleen (Austin) Hayden, Katie (Sam) Gardner, Christy (Ron) Bradshaw and nephew Alan Yanik, grand-nieces and nephew, and many friends and family. Jim, or Jimmy, as he was known to his friends and family, was a devoted husband, father, and provider. He worked as a tire builder at the Dunlop plant for 31 years and retired in 2008. For the past 9 years, he suffered with Alzheimers/ Dementia, but always wanted to help anyone he could. After the recent passing of his wife, Sherry, he became a resident of an assisted living facility and continued to entertain the staff there with his wit and charm. Jim loved food, music, movies, and people. He enjoyed his retirement years in the Sunset Bay community, where they had many friends, and were very active. In the 60s, Jim was a drummer in a Buffalo band called The Venturas. Although the band broke up, he never stopped drumming. It proved to be a successful therapy for Dementia and there were many nights spent at Cabana Sams with Jim drumming on the table along with the band. He loved Elvis, The Beatles, Journey, Neil Diamond just to name a few. James was the only surviving child of three siblings, the other two passed at birth. He was a kind, generous man, who was loved by many. Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME , 885 Niagara Falls Blvd on Friday, May 3rd from 4 8pm.
