Janice A.
Browning
Aug 16, 1940 — Oct 29, 2026
After a long and happy life, our beloved Janice, 86 years young, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by Robert, her loving husband of 61 years.
Janice is survived by her dearest daughters, Jennifer Notaro (Anthony) and Stephanie McVicar (Kevin), and her cherished son, Todd (Danielle). She was the very proud grandmother of Matthew (Rachel) and Marisa Notaro, Seamus (fiancée Emma) and Finnegan McVicar, and Christopher and Claire Browning; and the precious great-grandmother of Scarlett and Chloe Notaro. She is also survived by her treasured nieces and nephews: Paige (George), Tracy (Scott), Kristen (Paul), and Trent.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Janice and Robert moved to Sacramento, California, before settling in Williamsville, New York, where they lived for fifty years. A graduate of the St. Joseph School of Radiologic Technology, Janice enjoyed a fulfilling 40-plus-year career as an X-ray technician.
Beyond her profession, Janice was a brilliant artist and a national Certified Decorative Artist. Whether working in ceramics, oils, watercolors, or acrylics, she was happiest with a paintbrush in her hand. She was an amazing teacher and taught painting for many years in the evenings. She loved to dance and was incredibly funny. Her home was a place of warmth, known for unmatched cooking, baking, decorating, and entertaining.
Always ready with a smile and a helping hand, Janice lived every day to the fullest with a passion for good food, good friends, and family. Active until the very end, she volunteered as a greeter at Buffalo Hospice, where she happily shared her special stash of chocolates to brighten guests' days. Janice had the biggest heart, and her light will live on in all those lucky enough to have known her.
Devoted mother of Jennifer (Anthony) Notaro, Stephanie (Kevin) Browning McVicar, and Todd Browning; cherished grandmother of Matthew (Rachel) Notaro, Marisa Notaro, Seamus (Fiancée Emma Packer), and Finnegan McVicar, Christopher and Claire Browning; adored great-grandmother of Scarlett and Chloe Notaro; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
