Obituary

Entered into rest May 17, 2026. Jason Sorden was a man with a big heart, and a quiet, brilliant mind. A beloved son, loving father, big brother, and cherished friend, who never ended a conversation without making sure you knew he loved you. As early as possible, Jason's world moved on wheels. His first true love was skateboarding, a passion that brought about lifelong best friends and unbreakable bonds, forged on pavement and homemade ramps. That quickly rolled into BMXing, where tight friend memories are endless. In his adult life he found peace on foot enjoying disc golf, enjoying courses across multiple states Jason also expressed his creativity as a talented chef, loved color in his food, and crafted his own custom hot sauces as well as beer. He appreciated the simple pleasures of life with a Labatt Blue and a big bowl of Perry's ice cream. Beneath his fast-paced talent Jason was an exceptional writer, learning through a mentor and had published work. His written words were intricate, raw yet polished and he occasionally shared his work with his inner circle Jason's greatest legacy and truest pride was his amazing and witty daughter, Savannah Kinser (Sorden), (married to Steven Kinser). Their connection brought honest, good times he deeply treasured. He is also survived by his former wife and unconditional friend, Danielle Stevens-Sorden. As the oldest sibling, Jason took his role seriously by keeping an eye on his brother and sisters, encouraged them to take big leaps like he could, and had crafty ways to annoy or embarrass in true brother style. His memory will be carried on by his siblings as his heart grew bigger in the order they arrived: Eric Sorden, Lisa Sorden, Sabrina Sorden, Jessica Sorden, and Jennifer Boron-Rozycki. Jason is now showing off his ollies to his belated sister, Sabrina Sorden, who preceded him in death. He is survived and deeply missed by his steadfast father and project buddy James Sorden (Jennifer Gill); devoted step-mother, Julie Blakita (John Blakita); and birth mother, Lynette Sorden (Helmer) who always held him in her heart. There is a generous network of people who helped Jason thrive in different chapters of this savy-cat's 9 lives - cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and one-of-a-kind friends from the Claremont days. We know waiting to greet him on the other side with a wagging tail is his beloved dog, Beau In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jason's honor to the Indiana Prison Writers Workshop to help others discover the healing power of writing and find their voice. No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel).
