Jean M. McGee 10/30/1947 - 5/30/2024 Jean Marie (Blandford) McGee was born on October 30th, 1947, in Elmira, New York to the late Reginald Blandford and Grace (Simpson) Blandford. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and remained a God-fearing woman, praising and worshipping the Lord everyday of her life. Jean graduated from Corning Community College where she earned her associates degree. She strongly stressed the importance of education to her children and grandchildren. She walked the walk and talked the talk. For many years, she worked in retail, where she served her customers with her infectious smile. On many occasions, they left not only with a stylish outfit but most importantly the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In addition, she volunteered her time through ministry with incarcerated men and women in the Chemung County Jail. Mrs. Jean McGee was known for her love of ALL children, especially children in the Elmira community. They loved her presenting them with popsicles, cookies, and snacks. She never met a stranger, to know her was to love her. Until her last earthly breath, she found a way to turn the tables, as people visited or cared for her, they left with an encouraging word. Jean is preceded in death by her late husband Walter McGee, siblings, Ricky, Carolyn, Franklin 'Buttons', Denise and Phillip. She leaves to mourn her devoted children Anna "Nora" (Tony) Givens, Ivory (Kenny) Franklin, Mary (Art) Laurey, Christie (Mike) Ross, Tracy (Tami) McGee and Antonio "Rango" (Beth) Perry. Leaving a legacy of grandchildren, Rickeysha (Johnny) Ashford, Lenora (Edward) Cook, Katelyn (Tomarris) Bell, Krystie Laurey, Tony Givens Jr., Connor Laurey, Jean Marie Franklin, Johnnie (Mary) Franklin, Jada Hearon, Treykel McGee, Kayla (Greg) Hirtzel, Hannah (Todd, Jr.) Dentzau, Kasey (Randy) Chandler, Imani Perry, Mckya Perry, Christie McGee-Ross, Julius Perry, Eliana Perry, Antonio Perry Jr., Jeremiah Perry, Mason Perry, and Tauren Perry. In addition, a number of great-grandchildren that allows her legacy to live on. Jean leaves her siblings to mourn Mary Helen (Charles) Peters, Lauretta (George) Stowe, Pete Fullwood, Mark (Shawnda) Fullwood, Tony Fullwood, Paul Simpson, Eva (Tim) Brown, Michael (Malika) Blandford, Jackie (Murphy) Blandford, Reggie (Gail) Blandford, Angela Blandford, Edward (Amy) Blandford, Sandra (Shawn) Trimble. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her. Relatives and friends may visit The Well, 9954 Dodge Rd., Getzville, on Monday 6/10 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm where the funeral service will immediately follow.
