Jeanette A. Hayes

HAYES, Jeanette A. (nee Quintyne) of Buffalo, formerly of Fairport, NY entered into rest April 18, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Ralph Hayes; devoted mother of Arlene Hayes, David (Paula) Hayes Sr., and the late Lynne Hayes; cherished grandmother of Stephen (JeNaye Johnson) Wigginton, Cassandra (Patrick) Collein, David Hayes Jr., Samuel Evan Willie Hayes, Andrew Michael Hayes, and Ashtin (Lemar) Miller; adored great-grandmother of Damian and Conner Wigginton, Alyxandria Poole, and Ariane and Laila Rose Miller; loving daughter of the late Benjamin and Casswell Quintyne; dear sister and predeceased by Olive Quintyne, Gwendolyn (late Ralph Sr.) George, Phillipa (late Harold) Gregory, Michael Quintyne, Ina (late James) Skeete, and Robert Quintyne; also survived by many loving family and friends. Relatives and friends may visit Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 701 E. Delavan Ave., Buffalo on Saturday, April 29th from 10-11 AM, where a Funeral Service will immediately follow. Jeanette was born and raised in New York City to immigrant parents from Barbados. In 1956, Jeanette went on and graduated from St. Johns University with her Bachelors Degree in Science. Jeanette started her career as a Pharmacist in 1957 and married Ralph, her husband of 54 years in 1959. She continued her career while raising her children and family until she retired in 1999. Jeanette and her husband Ralph were one of the first African American Pharmacists and families to live in Fairport, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeanettes name may be made to St. Johns University, 8000 Utopia Pkwy., Queens, NY 11439.
