(nee Daniels) Of South Buffalo. Beloved wife of the late Jerome R. Lombardo; devoted mother of Jerome (Sue) Lombardo, Jeanette (Alvin) Thomas and Joseph P. Lombardo (Gloria); cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; loving daughter of the late Paul and Thria Daniel; dear sister of the late Rosalie (late Nelson) Williams, late Thomas (late Martha) Daniel and the late Joseph (late Jean) Daniel; also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Born Jeanette Daniel in Mannington, W.Va., she earned her bachelor's degree from West Virginia University and did graduate studies of Buffalo State College, the University at Buffalo and Canisius College. She was a high school teacher in Pennsylvania and West Virginia before coming to Buffalo in the late 1940s. Mrs. Lombardo became a physical education teacher in the Buffalo schools after serving as a substitute teacher locally for a few years. She was at South Park High School for more than 25 years, retiring in 1988. She also taught health at South Park and coached the cheerleading team and the girls bowling team, which won a state title in the 1960s. In retirement, she was secretary of Lombardo Funeral Homes and continued working until a few weeks before her death. Her son, Joseph, said that she was instrumental in the success and expansion of the business. She was a past president of the Lake Erie Italian Club Auxiliary; past president of the Auxiliary of Francis A. Lombardo Post 1037, American Legion; past president of the St. Martin of Tours Seniors; and past president of her Monday night bowling league. Her husband, Jerome R., a funeral director, died in 1984. Surviving are two sons, Jerome J. and Joseph P., and a daughter, Jeanette Thomas.
