URTEL - Joanne H. (nee Rank) Of Buffalo, NY, entered into rest peacefully on September 29, 2022 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of Robert E. Urtel; devoted mother of Diane (Allison) Urtel, Carolyn Koone, Julie (Richard) Fiato and the late Robert Urtel; precious fur mom of the late Daisy; cherished grandmother of Rachael (Tom Arnone) Koone, Daphne and Alexis Fiato; loving daughter of the late Cyril and Helen Rank; dear sister of the late Phyllis Stack, Cyril and Joseph Rank; revered cousin of Sandra Harcrow; adored friend of Sally Chase; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Joanne was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family endlessly. She graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1953 as a resident of Grand Island, NY. Later in life she studied communications and journalism at N.C.C. after raising her large family. Joanne worked in the Alumni Department at Canisius College and as a computer typist for the Buffalo News. Joanne enjoyed being a member of Sacred Heart Parish of Auburn Hills, Michigan where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a choir member under the Rev. James Mayworm. She was an avid animal lover and contributed to the SPCA. No prior visitation. Arrangements by LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Northtowns Chapel) Amherst, NY. A private Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Stephens Church with a private burial at Assumption Cemetery on Grand Island.
