John J. Benes Sr.

August 6, 1948 - May 16, 2026

Of Buffalo, entered into rest May 16, 2026. Beloved husband of the late W. Delphine (nee Doxdator) Benes; devoted father of Lisa (Tim) Johnson, Tina (George) Nottingham and John J. Jr. (Heather) Benes; cherished grandfather of Chelsea, Ryan, Dorothy Lynn, Tiny, Gina, Georgie, Jewel, Nancy, Skylar and Kira; adored great-grandfather of 9 great-grandchildren; loving son of the late Louis and Irene (nee Pabst) Benes; dear brother of Louise "LuLu" Cheekowski, late Nicholas Benes and the late Joseph Benes; also survived by loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

John was a business owner, owning a bar as well as a vendor to many local events and state fairs all around the country. He also played pool professionally. John invented the glow-in-the-dark necklace. He was a people person and a mentor to many. 

Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) 3060 Abbott Rd., near Lake Ave. on Sunday (May 24) from 2-5PM, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 5PM.
