JohnLuc G.
Jubert
September 6, 1995 – March 20, 2026
JohnLuc Gerard Jubert – “Jack” – “JL,” 30 of Buffalo, NY tragically died on March 20, 2026. Jack is survived by his parents, John G. Jubert and Molly Mashanic-Jubert, his older sister, Maureen Marguerite, and his younger brother Daniel Michael Richard. He is very close in age to Maureen and Danny, and they homeschooled together until Jack went to St. Joe’s. They bonded while reading the same books, adventuring together on the same field trips, and making up games with complicated rules that involved a lot of jumping on mom and dad’s bed.
He is survived by his soulmate, Katelyn M. Baran. They loved to travel together, to warm weather places, to Toronto, and to EDM festivals. They also enjoyed staying home as much as going out. JohnLuc loved Katelyn’s white and orange cat, Ham. He shared many pictures of Ham doing Ham things, like sitting in a box.
Also survived by Uncle Michael (Kathleen) Mashanic, Aunt Mary (Bill) Szafarski, Aunt Marianne Jubert, Aunt Amy Banks, Aunt Lucy (Chris) Walkowiak and Uncle Andre Joubert. Survived by cousin Katie Mashanic and a gang of seventeen Jubert cousins: Jeffrey (Candace) Szafarski, Jason Szafarski, Marie (Mike) Martin, Gregory Jubert, Brenda (Marty) O’Connor, Benjamin Jubert, Brittany (Dan) Schueler, Beth (Kyle) Wruck, Zebulon Jubert, Mitchell Banks, Dominique Banks, Matthew Banks, Isaiah Banks, Murcedes Banks, Kyle (Amanda) Walkowiak, Ryan Walkowiak and Megan Walkowiak, as well as many first cousins, once removed and second cousins. Jack and his cousins shared birthday parties, family reunions, weddings, Christmas Eve parties, and the annual Independence Day party highlight: the no holds barred Wiffle Ball Game.
Jack is survived by many friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Maureen and Robert Mashanic and Marguerite and Donald Jubert, and uncles Thomas Jubert and Donald Jubert, Jr.
Jack always loved sports from the time he was very young. Growing up, he played formally and informally: soccer, baseball, street hockey, ice hockey, and countless knee-hockey games with mini-sticks. When he was about five, he realized that if he played goalie in soccer or hockey, he played the whole game instead of swapping lines. From there, he was hooked on goal. He played goal in hockey for his four years at St. Joe’s. When he went to Canisius, he joined the Ultimate Frisbee team and found another sport to love. No matter the sport, he was so happy to be surrounded by friends and teammates, working together for a win. Jack was an avid golfer, from his days walking and carrying his clubs at Brighton golf course to a 30th birthday trip with friends to Alabama to play the RTJ Golf Trail.
Jack graduated from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and earned a B.S. in Accounting from Canisius College. Some of his dearest friends, he met at Canisius. He worked in the finance department for Lactalis American Group in South Buffalo.
Jack tried many instruments (piano, trombone, and banjo) before he found his passion with house music. He produced and performed all over the Buffalo area and beyond. Some venues he played are NoFun, SOL pool club, Sunset Sundays, Gypsy Parlor, Jack Rabbit, Goodbar, Thin Man, Riff City Social, Hardware, and Music is Art, as well as playing in Charleston, SC. The last song he produced was inspired by a vinyl album he bought at a local independent record store. JohnLuc produced with and played B2B with so many amazing Buffalo DJs; it brought him much joy. He loved the Buffalo house music community; he has so many friends he made through his involvement.
He loved going to the movies. One year, he went to nearly 100 different films but was a couple short due to stormy weather at the end of December. His love of movies expanded from Disney VHS tapes to “dollar” movies to his Regal Unlimited Movie Pass. Film classes at St. Joe’s played a big part in widening and deepening his knowledge of film.
Jack was a Buffalonian through and through. He moved into the city at 19 years old and lived there ever since. When he was snowed in during the 2022 Christmas blizzard, he walked throughout his neighborhood, the Valley, and took the most stunning pictures of various homes, the railroad bridge, and the Buffalo River buried in ice and snow. He was a diehard Bills, Sabres, Bisons, and Bandits fan. He loved wings and pizza logs and sponge candy.
Jack and his dad are Mets fans.
Jack was loving, charming, endearing. He had a tender heart that was touched by social media pictures of kittens and puppies and a motherless baby monkey. He loved all the dogs his family ever had: Manny, Ginger, Patch and the most recent, Ernie. He had a brain like a steel trap. He remembered All The Things. He moved fast when he discovered something new and wanted to learn more; he jumped in with both feet. He was beautiful, inside and out. His bright blue eyes and his smile are unforgettable.
Whether you have known him since he was small and call him Jack or since he was older and call him JL or JohnLuc, he will be forever loved and remembered.
