Story of Joseph Anthony Lombardo
Fondly referred to as JoJo by close friends and loved ones…
Since childhood, JoJo displayed a remarkable intellect and natural ability for learning, as the pursuit of knowledge whether books or street came easy to him. He gratuated from Canisius High School, attended Canisius College and went to earn his Funeral Director License from Simmons in Syracuse, NY serving as Sr. Class President, which set the stage for stepping into the family business Lombardo Funeral Homes.
Professionally, JoJo dedicated his career to Lombardo Funeral Homes and transitioned to entrepreneurial endeavors and business partnerships owning Convention Tower (Court Street, Buffalo) the old Ruby Reds (Niagara Falls Blvd.), Mohawk Motor Inn (Main Street, Buffalo), and a news stand. His mindset also lead him to ownership of Buz-N-Bee Food Stores (Forest at Grant, and Seneca Street, Buffalo). The Seneca store location included Queen Bee Liquors, formerly Queen Bee Meats, he additionally owned a vending company, water purification company and heating & air conditioning business. Through his work, JoJo employed many, leaving a lasting impact. Later endeavors in Florida lead him to open two car washes with one in Titusville, and the second in Melbourne.
JoJo found great joy in hosting and bringing people together. Countless holiday celebrations, homecooked dinners, and poolside cookouts became tradition growing bigger each year in Williamsville, and eventually carried on in Jupiter Florida with family-and-friends. Occasional dips in the hot tub and pool were also moments shared. He excelled at helping & caring for others, making endless pots of homemade sauce and countless vats of wine, making lasting impressions on all. To him, family was most important and was not defined by blood but instead by actions, good deeds, sincerety and caring. Anyone who met the criteria was considered just that.
He carried that same love into his friendships. Whether it was weekly outings, long conversations with family, golf, boating, cooking, or simply being there for one another, JoJo valued those bonds deeply. His personal life was abundant and meaningful. He met his wife Cindy, and their connection was instant with no denying. Their early years together were filled with travel with frequent adventures in Vegas, Florida, and overseas most importantly, sharing all with the love of her life, JoJo. Together they built a home and family, raising children, Dolores, Cathy, Kelly, and Larry.

JoJo’s love of the outdoors centered around golf, beaches and pools. His passion for golf began as a member of Lancaster Country Club, where he served as President for three years (on the board of directors for nine) with many achievements both inside the club house and on the course. He also had four hole-in-ones and many titles throughout playing the sport. His love for being near the water led him to take up a second residence in Jupiter Florida, where he enjoyed walking the beaches, taking swims in the pool, and continuing his love for golf as a member of Hobe Sound Golf Club.
Later in life, the pursuit of chasing the sun led him to a primary residency in Jupiter Florida with some quieter moments reading the paper, doing the daily crossword puzzles, and playing on electronic devices. Even at age 89 he was electronically savy, sending countless texts, memes and jokes also via email to family and friends.
JoJo was known for his sharp mind, warm heart, and physical strength with an unparalleled determination to live, and abudnant generosity.
Even as he faced health challenges later in life the essence of JoJo, never faded.
He’s now flying high and freely as a powerfully yet graceful Eagle, free from pain, with wings spread wide, never to be teathered down but FOREVER loved by his wife Cindy, family and all who knew him.
