Joseph Garetta
January 31, 1975 – April 24, 2020
Joseph Garetta was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a man whose humor, personality, and unmistakable New York accent will never be forgotten.
Originally from Bensonhurst, New York City, Joseph was incredibly proud of his Sicilian heritage and New York roots. He carried both with him throughout his life, especially through his love of cooking, family traditions, and bringing the people he loved together around the table. Sunday dinners were especially important to him—a time for good food, laughter, stories, and creating memories with family.
Joseph had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that could fill a room. Those who knew him will always remember his thick Brooklyn accent, his jokes, his cooking, and the many little things that made him uniquely Joe.
Above all, Joseph loved his family. He shared his life with his loving partner, Claudia, who remained by his side until his passing. He was the proud father of his three daughters, Joanna Garetta, Brooke Garetta, and Klarissa Garetta, and a loving grandfather to Lilliana Leach. He was also a beloved brother to Terry Garetta, Omar Eid-Shaheen, and Philomena Herrera.
Joseph will be remembered through the traditions he passed down, the meals he made, the laughter he brought, and the memories shared by those who loved him. His Sicilian roots, his Brooklyn spirit, and that unforgettable accent will forever remain a part of the family he leaves behind.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
