Obituary


Schiavi, Joseph J., a lifelong resident of Lackawanna, entered into rest on March 27, 2026. Loving son of the late Josephine (nee Campoli) and Joseph Schiavi; devoted brother of Mary (James M.) Chorazak, Lackawanna Mayor Annette (John F.) Iafallo and the late Guy (Gladys), Peter (Geraldine), Louis and Rose (Charles “Lefty”) Clark; Godfather to Chuck D. Clark, Michael A. and Mark J. Chorazak, Frank J. and Addison L. Iafallo; uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Joseph worked at Bethlehem Steel, FORD Stamping Plant and The Lackawanna City School District. Mr. Schiavi was a Democratic Committeeman for 30+ years and was elected Fourth Ward Council Member for the City of Lackawanna from 2004-2011 serving two terms honorably. Joe was a proud Army Veteran serving his term in Korea, was a member at St. Anthony’s Parish and it’s Holy Name Society, Lake Erie Italian Club and the Matthew Glab Post 1477. Joe was a great friend to many! Relatives and friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel) 3060 Abbott Rd. near Lake Ave. on Friday (April 10) from 3-7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Basilica, 767 Ridge Rd., Lackawanna on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock. Please assemble at Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations can be made in Joe’s memory to Hospice Buffalo.
