K-9 Hydro, partner Buffalo Police Officer Stephen Mikac, ended his watch on November 21, 2021 in the line of duty. He began his training with K-9 Officer Mikac in March 2018. Since that time together K-9 Hydro logged but was not limited to: 624 calls, 46 area searches, 20 building searches, 147 bomb searches, 4 vehicle searches, 11 tracks for suspects, and apprehended 13 suspects. K-9 Hydro also assisted the Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Bluejays. With K-9 Hydros presence in the community as he was patrolling and assisting other Law Enforcement Officers throughout the city and county, it will never be truly known how many incidents he has prevented of Law Enforcement Officers or citizens being harmed in any way. K-9 Hydro was a frequent visitor to various schools and community days around the City of Buffalo to show off his skill set. After he would demonstrate his various duties, he then loved to walk around looking for people to pet him and loved to flop over on his back to get his belly scratched. K-9 Hydro was truly proud of being a police dog and could not wait to get up every day to hop in the back of his patrol car and go to work. He will be sadly missed by his Department, the citizens of Buffalo, and his family: K-9 handler Steve and Sheena, and his little pack members, Brynn, Asher, and Elin. Friends may visit the LOMBARDO FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3060 Abbott Rd. on Saturday (December 18th) from 12-4 PM for a gathering in Hyrdos memory.
