A Life of Strength, Faith, Service, and Love

November 1st, 1932 – June 16th, 2025

Kamla was born on November 1st, 1932 and soared peacefully into the sunset on June 16th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith.

She lived a long, meaningful, and profoundly productive life. As the fourth of eleven siblings, Kamla naturally stepped into the role of matriarch after the passing of her father when she was just 20 years old. Her place in the family only deepened the strong bond she shared with her siblings—a connection that remained unwavering throughout her life.

Kamla was a woman of remarkable strength, courage, and deep faith. She faced life’s challenges with determination and grace, and celebrated its joys with a full heart. Practical and no-nonsense, yet deeply compassionate, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a cherished Nani to her grandchildren, and to many of her nephews and nieces.

Her calling to care for others began in her late teens, when she entered the nursing training and profession. Kamla served as a nurse for more than 40 years, including time in Iraq as a nurse in the cardiac unit before immigrating to the United States. Nursing was more than her career—it was who she was, a constant caregiver. Even in the final years of her life, while living in a nursing home, she continued to look in on other residents, sometimes joining the medication nurse on nightly rounds to check on fellow residents.

Kamla’s faith was her foundation. It gave her strength, shaped her character, and brought her peace. She lived with purpose and dignity—and she left this world just as gracefully: in her sleep, with a gentle smile on her face.

Her life was a testament to resilience, compassion, and unconditional love. She will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
