Kathleen Ann Padin

October 15, 1955 — February 22, 2024

Kathleen Ann Padin, 68, of Amherst, passed away peacefully in her home on February 22, 2024, surrounded by her husband and daughter, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 15, 1955 in Buffalo to the late George and Wendy (Werczynska) Shieberl. She graduated from Clarence High School in 1973 and received her Bachelors degree in Nursing from the University of Buffalo in 1997. Kathy was a nurse for 32 years, working at BryLin as a Substance Abuse Counselor. She also worked per diem at St. Jeromes Hospital in Batavia and the original Lockport Memorial Hospital. Kathy helped hundreds of people that were struggling with addiction with her dedication, compassion and down-to-earth attitude. It was in 1984 when Kathy met the love of her life, Jose Padin. They were together for many years and married on September 14, 2011 in Oahu, Hawaii. In keeping with her love of Hawaii, they later renewed their vows there. Anyone who knew Kathy could easily say she was full of life and adventure. In her spare time, she was an avid traveler with her husband Jose. She loved the Caribbean islands but her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, where she made over 10 visits. Kathy's passion for traveling began as a young child with her parents and sister to Florida. She also had fond memories of staying on the yacht, The Conlita. She continued traveling to Florida and looked forward to her yearly 'girl's trip' with her daughter and granddaughter Madalyn. Kathy was a devoted animal lover, especially to her horse Nifty Too and cats she had rescued in the past. She took an interest in many things including old houses, horses and horseback riding, antiques, collecting Kliban cats, soapstone, postcards and had a love for classic cars with her favorite being the 1959 Chevrolet Impala. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Artie Sickles; her twin half-brothers, Roger and Ronald Davison; her niece, Emily Shatzel and her horse, Nifty Too. Kathy is survived by her loving husband and companion of 39 years, Jose Padin; her daughter, Jaclyn (Michael) Babcock; her step-sons, Jose Michael (Victoria) Padin and Cory (Britaney) Padin; her grandchildren, Madalyn, Josephine, Vivienne, Nicholas, Jameson and Julian; her sister, Susan Shieberl; niece, Anna Shatzel and many cousins in Canada. As per Kathy's request, no funeral with be held and a celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
